WHY SOUTHERN VT

Vermont continually ranks within the top ten healthiest, smartest, safest, and “greenest” states in the United States (see these:  Healthiest states, Smartest states, Safest states, Greenest states).  It’s no secret that Vermont is a great vacation destination. If you enjoy beautiful mountain vistas and skiing, quaint villages and farms, weathered barns and covered bridges, you won’t be disappointed. Local food, arts and culture, and rural, small town life bring back seasonal visitors and homeowners year after year.

Southern Vermont has all that, as well as access to the rest of New England including urban amenities in Boston and New York. You can hop on the Amtrak in Brattleboro to head south to NYC or DC, or north to Montreal. Hartford CT and Albany NY airports are just over an hour away. Don’t let the rural character and small scale fool you. Southern Vermont has it all.

Across the region you’ll find vibrant villages like Wilmington and Bellows Falls, delicious dining from the top of Hogback to the base of Mount Snow, and entertainment for everyone at venues like the Weston Theater and Putney’s NextStage Arts. Manchester is a regional shopping destination. This region’s arts, dining, educational and recreational offerings are world class.

Situated in the southeastern corner of the state, Brattleboro is the largest town in Windham County and serves as an artistic and economic hub. In 2023, Brattleboro was named “Strongest Town” in the U.S. by StrongTowns.org. Acting as the economic and artistic hub for the southwestern corner of the state, Bennington is home to Bennington College and is closely connected to the Berkshires region of western Massachusetts.

Alongside the scenery and hospitality is another Vermont where people enjoy this quality of life year round while building careers. From manufacturing to family farms, medical centers to hospitality, traditional banks to tech-based startups, Southern Vermont’s growing employers need talented people to join their teams. Our communities offer small community living with great local schools, a wide range of recreational options, high speed broadband access, and all that you know and love about Vermont.
